Sensei Rebecca Wren-Schemmer, Yondan

SenseiRebeccaSensei Rebecca Wren-Schemmer, Yondan (4th degree black belt), started practicing karate in 1999 at the Joliet Park District. After only three months and a move to Minooka IL she continued her training at Shorei Goju Inc  in Morris, IL  under Sensei Vincent Balluff, Shichidan (7th degree black belt). Sensei Wren-Schemmer trained under Sensei Balluff for over ten years and achieved the rank of Sandan (3rd degree black belt).  In September of 2010 Sensei Wren-Schemmer became an instructor at the newly founded Dragon Fire Karate in New Lenox with Sensei Joe Roque, Sandan.  Sensei Wren currently trains under Sensei Todd Gilbert, Godan (5th degree black belt), at Gilbert Karate Studios in Channahon, IL. Under Sensei Gilbert, Sensei Wren earned her Yondan, and she continues to be an instructor at Dragon Fire Karate. Along with her training in karate, Sensei Wren has also had some training in iado, nunchaku, and bo staff and will be training students who are interested in weapons at Dragon Fire Karate’s new location in New Lenox.

In July 2013, Sensei Rebecca Wren-Schemmer was inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame, and received an award for Woman of the Year.  In June 2014, Sensei Wren-Schemmer was inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Instructor of the Year.

In September 2014, Sensei Rebecca Wren-Schemmer moved to Sedona, Arizona, but will continue to be an associate of Dragon Fire Karate.
